But Whitefish is the part of Montana with the fewest Montanans.

Mrs. addiction and I were just in the mountains (in Colorado) for a long weekend. Love mornings at elevation...

I’ve heard good things about Montana. Solid weather all year long??

I am sure the great outdoors and the scenery also don’t hurt.

By weather you mean, 70's in the summer, and -F in the winter?

Just a bit on the nippy side in January, though. I’m sorry you won’t be feeling the heat those of us slightly to your west will be getting. I should be great. /s

Colorado, I would like to visit the colorado rockies one of these years, they are much taller than the mountains up here.

A little -25 F won’t hurt you as long as you limit exposure to 15 seconds or less.

The summers have a way of making you forget those -15 F mornings, and those ridiculously short daylight days in December and January.

You definitely should! I’ve hiked a 14er in the past (Mount Belford) , and we were fortunate to drive through Independence Pass this trip (it had just opened).

I’d describe that weather as “slightly chilly, still need a jacket”.

Montanans wear shorts starting at 45 deg.

It varies more at home at least. It doesnt get this warm in the “winter” in the valley.
But I prefer it this way, the less variability the better. It’s just almost always guaranteed to be acceptable out. Winter time you worry a little bit about rain but never cold. Summer time is invariably hot inland. I guess amount of daylight is really the only surfire way to tell. When the sun sets before 5pm versus after 8pm, I tend to notice that.

December-March it’s a crap shoot, could be okay, could be a blizzard and icy roads.

Fair enough, I’ll plan for spring/summer when I can!
